What does G.E Learner look like?

The children all have lots of ideas about what G.E Learner may look like and are keen for their arrival at Giggles.

Here are some of today's drawings of what the children think G.E Learner might look like.

Ethan P said that G.E Learner will be a boy with no hands but he will have arms, legs and feet.

Olivia said they will be a girl with long hair and a pink dress.

Wait for more

This is a working blog that will be updated every few days so keep your eye out for more to come.

Creating the concept of G.E Learner

Children were encouraged to brain storm their ideas of a character that would become the service's identity. G.E Learner will arrive at Giggles over the next couple of weeks.
The children discussed whether G.E Learner will be a boy or a girl, will they be short or tall.
Zarlia discussed that she thought they may eat ice cream, whilst Gracie thought they may have fingers.
The children moved to the table and eagerly started to sketch their pictures of G.E Learner. Here is one of their drawings.

All in a name.

What's your name?

At Giggles this is the question we have been asking the children.
A name makes you who you are and no one can take it away from you, allowing children to feel recognised and respected for who they are (EYLF Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity)
Most of the children recognise their name as their first name, some included their surname, but what's a middle name?

This prompted a discussion. Gracie's dad calls Aiden "Brownie" Logan is Logan Tyson Moles and Danae is just Danae "because she is little".

We demonstrated the different ways that we can write our name.

The children excitedly explored the new letters appearing in their name on the paper.

So why generate interest in the children's initials?

We are about to embark on a learning journey to build partnerships with our families and the wider community. Watch our Blog!
